New “Orange Zones” Declared in Phnom Penh’s Por Senchey

Phnom Penh , The Governor of Phnom Penh has designated new “orange zones” in Khan Por Senchey. The administrative measures will be in place for two weeks, from Thursday 10 June through Wednesday 23 June.

The move has been made amid a rising number of Covid-19 cases, linked to the district’s markets and factories. On Tuesday, Por Senchey’s Governor, Mr. Hem Darith, tested positive. He is being treated at home and is not in a serious condition.

Por Senchey is one of the five worst-hit districts in Phnom Penh for Covid-19, along with Meanchey, Russey Keo, Sen Sok and Kambol. It was also one of the capital’s first “red zones” when the lockdown was announced in April.

Por Senchey’s new “orange zones” are:

• Parts of Choam Chao 3 Village in Sangkat Choam Chao II

• Parts of Trapeang Po Village, parts of Prey Pring North 2 Village and parts of Chumpouvorn 2 Village in Sangkat Choam Chao III

Residents of “orange zones” are not permitted to leave their homes, except to buy food or for essential or emergency travel. All non-essential businesses must also close.
